CORPUS CHRISTI - Faithful readers we are happy to finally be returning after what has been a very long hiatus. It wouldn't be right to just jump back into things without letting everyone know what has been going on.
The past 5 months have been very turbulent for us and that has led to a lack of content on our part. Without going into specifics we can fill you in on what happened, what is happening, and what the future holds.
To start, 12thFretMedia is still here and is going to be pushing out new content in the following weeks.
As for what happened, well it started with the random suspension of our Instagram page which was our largest communication medium for our readers. On September 25th an email came through that informed us that the account was suspended for violating terms of service.
Naturally we thought this was a spam email and laughed, until we opened up the Instagram app. Sadly we found out that the email was true and immediately filed an appeal.
While waiting for a response we did some research and found out that for several months prior to our accounts suspension, and currently, large numbers of people have had the same thing happen to their Instagram accounts. Reasons have varied but it seems that the pattern revolves around Meta.
It appears as though content reviews are done by Meta which has randomly flagged accounts for suspension all over the country. Small businesses, influencers, and random users have all experienced the same thing, a suspension notice, with no path to restoration.
Reading through various stories from various people online and their videos on YouTube people found that while the app says an appeal takes just over a day, most people have waited for months and gotten no updates.
We have found ourselves in the same boat. Appeal filed on 9/25/25 and we have had no contact. Unfortunately there is no support email, phone, or chat for Instagram or Meta which means that while the AI program may get the appeal, it won't go anywhere.
We have resolved that the account is most likely gone forever or at least it will be in a few days. We did attempt to create a backup account but because we reposted photos of our upcoming coverage of Alabama Shakes, Meta flagged that account and suspended it for sharing content from a suspended account.
From there things just seemed to go sideways for us. Our local place of employment is being shut down, we took a financial hit, we lost loved ones, hell there was even some heartbreak haha.
This led to our having to not attend NAMM this year which really did disappoint us. Media requests for upcoming concerts fell through, and with the cost of gas what it is right now travel has become a hinderance as well. Let's not forget there's also a bias against brown people going on that has led many people to be wary of travel.
With all of those things just hitting us back to back, month after month, we weren't sure where to go or what to do.
That being said, we are moving forward.
There are now three ways to stay updated on content that we are pushing out in the near future.
subscribe at the bottom of this website with your email and you will get an email when we publish a new article.
Follow our Twitter(X) page @12thFretMedia and we will be sharing content on that platform moving forward.
If you feel so inclined, you can create an account on this website and create a small profile for yourself that will also send you email alerts when we publish new content.
DISCLAIMER: We do not recommend sharing our content on instagram or facebook as our original page was linked to Meta, we don't want anyone else's pages getting flagged for sharing content about concerts.
Sadly we lost contact with 300 followers some of whom were well known musicians. Our DM's had correspondence with the likes of Joe Bonamassa, Bootsy Collins, and Rex Brown from Pantera.
These were very brief contacts but they meant a lot to our little publication. Rex himself messaged us back letting us know that if we got our next guitar giveaway going in order to give back to music education, that he would donate one of his upcoming signature Spector Basses for us to give away.
Hopefully we got a screenshot of that DM but we'll see.
On X we will be posting our older content to start getting the word out about this transition.
Upcoming content will include the following:
Paul McCartney (concert)
Social Repose (the scandal)
This years Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
Joe Bonamassa (concert)
All the best to everyone who has supported us and who still wants to read/watch our future content.
