KadabraCon 2025
KadabraCon 2025

KadabraCon is on track to descend upon Corpus Christi yet again starting on the weekend of September 26th. While we are always enthused for the cons we cover from CCTX Comic Con, OkashiCon, and San Japan, the jury is still out on KadabraCon.

While we did attend last years convention for the first time, we have to admit we were a little perplexed. The event took place in a hotel near Rodd Field Road which just seemed out of the ordinary for our area.

We don't know the reason for the setting but we can only assume that there was a deviation from ordinary operations as the event was small to say the least. When we way small, we mean it was in fact confined to the main hall of the hotel much like RealmsCon the year it was forced into the Omni Hotel.

It was cramped and the vast majority of the convention could be seen within a half hour. Add in the fact that the main Panel room was in the same hall, but behind a curtain and we had to wonder, "Is this normal?"

Make no mistake, KadabraCon was enjoyable, and worth attending. For this reason we are overjoyed to see that the event will in fact be taking place at the American Bank Center which always feels like the appropriate venue for the conventions in our area.

Though last year felt underwhelming, we are optimistic for this year as we need more comic/anime/video game conventions in our area. The pop culture community in Corpus Christi definitely feels like a market that is often underserved, KadabraCon feels like the opportunity for redemption and change within the area.

If you are into video games, anime, cosplay, comic books or just want to let your inner nerd out to play, give KadabraCon a chance. We will be looking forward to it.

Their current lineup of guests include a variety of voice actors and cosplayers including Corpus Christi Joker. In addition to that we will be welcoming actor Sean Kanan who played Mike Barnes in Karate Kid 3 as well as Cobra Kai.
