As may of you may already know, My Chemical Romance has announced The Black Parade 2026 tour which is currently underway in the Southeast Asia leg of the tour. From August through October the US fans will have a chance to see the group live and in person in various cities.
Tickets are currently on sale, so if you have not already done so, grab one while you can. We look back to 2022 when we first saw the band live courtesy of the bands management sending us a ticket for review purposes and think about how lucky we were.
The show was so good that we have reached out to band management to request press access for their next San Antonio show in Sept. 2026 and are pending approval. With any luck we will be able to bring you more coverage of this amazing group when the time comes.
Truth be told, prior to the 2022 concert we were not really fans and hadn't really given the group a chance, but being a true journalist we said "hey, they sent a ticket so we're gonna check this out and be open minded."
There were a few things that stand out about the evening before the concert. For example, we were granted the ticket via email by the bands management in the evening before the concert.
Although this was short notice, we gassed up the car and made the 2 hour drive to San Antonio. What happened when we announced that we would be covering the concert was that we had friends from all over the country irate that I managed to get a ticket while many others were left wanting as shows were sold out and tickets were at this point very hard to come by.
This led us to believe that maybe we stumbled into something that was bigger than I thought. We knew that MCR was a very successful band and iconic in the Emo/Scene culture(No Hate, we love our emo/scene friends, they're the best), but what was the big deal?
We had a prime seat located just off the stage with a great view and as the lights went down, we understood. What struck us first was the musicianship and songwriting that we were hearing as needless to say, we were impressed.
This was some solid music coming from solid musicians and these were songs by a talented songwriter. We were engaged at this point and the fans filling the arena were beyond ecstatic to see the group finally back on the stage.
It was when the group played "I'm Not Okay" that we realized that to these fans, these were not just songs, but anthems. We still remember the audience singing along as the band played and thinking "these guys did it right."
With tickets already on sale we encourage fans to check these guys out even if you aren't a fan of them specifically. Honestly we talked a lot of trash about this band before we actually gave them a listen and that night, we took back everything we said.
